the brief

What it is

404: Escape the Room is a fast-paced, team-based technical escape-room challenge. Teams enter one of three designated labs and have 20 minutes to solve a series of interconnected technical and logical challenges.

Each lab is a complete, self-contained escape room, and three teams play at a time. Puzzles mix technical and non-technical elements so every team member can contribute. The team with the lowest successful completion time, after penalties, wins.

How it works

  1. 3 labs · 3 teams at a time

    The event runs in 20-minute slots. Each slot seats one team in each of three labs.

  2. Connected puzzles

    HTML inspection, JavaScript, SQL, Git, decoding, QR codes, physical clues and logic — solving one stage reveals the next.

  3. Hints cost time

    Hints carry a time penalty that is added to the final completion time. The exact penalty is announced before the event.

  4. Ranking

    Final time = actual completion time + applicable penalties. Lowest final time wins.
